Happy New Year!
We start 2016 with no retrograde planets. Our first retrograde comes into view on January 5th. Mercury, the planet of communications starts in the sign of Aquarius and during the approximate 3 weeks Mercury is retrograde it will move back into the sign of Capricorn before going direct again on January 25th 2016.
Those of you new to reading information from me, or have forgotten; a planet that looks like its going backwards is considered “retrograde”. The planets that do spend any time in a retrograde motion, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, are not necessarily negative. It can be a time of reflection; a time when your intuition is stronger such as when Uranus or Neptune are retrograde.
When Mercury is Rx we do need to cross the T’s and dot the I’s. It’s a time of written reflection. It’s a great time to start writing in your journal on a regular basis. Look through all paperwork you have accumulated and start to organize it.
Last year, during one of the Mercury retrograde periods, a Coaching client of mine, had an issue with the IRS. Instead of responding to their letter immediately she needed to take time to gather all of her information in the form of documents as well as conversations with her accountant and her attorney. This she did and her IRS problem was solved very easily. I asked her after the situation was over “what would have happened if you hadn’t taken the time to go over all the documents and given the IRS the documents they asked for?” She responded “funny you ask that. It’s a question I had for the IRS female I was dealing with. She told me that fines were ready to be levied on my business and a garnishment of my bank account for the full amount they say I owed would have happened!” Good job she crossed the T’s and dotted the I’s!
From January 5th – 25th sort out, throw away, file, deal with or give the paperwork to someone else to deal with. Double check all communications. If you make an appointment over the phone DEFINITELY confirm it via e-mail or text.
Also in January, Jupiter, currently in the sign of Virgo and considered the planet of luck, expansion, growth and optimism will enter a retrograde period. January 7th – May 9th is the length of this retrograde.
When Jupiter is Rx it’s a time of inner awareness and growth, rather than external. Jupiter retrograde is more spiritual and philosophical so it is a time to explore your beliefs. What is true for you now that may not have been true in the past? What are you beliefs? Are you supported and surrounded by like-minded people?
With Jupiter sitting in Virgo it’s time to look at your health, which includes the foods and beverages you are putting into your being as well as the types of foods. Are your foods organic or vegetarian? Is it time to cut out dairy or sugar? You know your own body. Watch it over the next month for signs of improvement when you allow the foods you eat to bring you nourishment rather than just tasting good!
The negative of Jupiter retrograde in Virgo is that you may spend the next 5 months feeling overworked and under appreciated. If you are employed several of your colleagues will either leave or be promoted and you will have to take on the responsibility of the work left behind until someone else is hired. The hiring will be slow and you could get used to working the extra time, although it’s unlikely you’ll be compensated with increased income.
As soon as you “feel”, “know” or “hear” the red flag that says something like “Oh, I don’t see them hiring anyone for Julie’s job until later in the year, which means it’s all going to fall on me”, that’s when you need to talk with the appropriate people in your company to make sure a new hire is on the way, WITH a temporary increase in finances until they find someone. If you don’t ask, you won’t get.
For those of you who are self employed and either have employees or work with Virtual Assistants, expect someone to move onto their own dream. They won’t plan on leaving you in the lurch without a replacement; however its likely there will be a long period of time between contractors or employees coming to your rescue. You’ll find yourself engaged in work you used to do when you first started your business. Don’t wait to replace your employee. Do make sure you have a very clear WRITTEN job description together with the type of values, beliefs and traits you are looking for in someone with whom you work closely.
You have 5 months to delve internally and discover what actions need to be taken in order to be healthier as well as more organized.
Mars the planet of our energy and our drive moves into the sign of Scorpio in the first week of January. Scorpio rules our deepest desires as well as our psychological understanding of others. During the month of January you will want to know the motivations of others.
You will also find your intuition antenna will be waving madly at you if someone lies to you, which is quite likely! Listen for red flags and ask yourself “how many red flags do I need in order to disconnect from ____?”
January is a great time to review your Life and Business Mission and Vision. For those of you who’ve already created a Mission and Vision are you still on track? Do you need to make adjustments? Have your desires changed?
Mars in Scorpio is a great time to dig deep and ask “what would my ideal life look like?” Don’t keep those ideas in your head as they will slip away. Carry a note book, use your phone or index cards to write down ideas as they occur. At the end of the day transfer that information into your Life and Business Mission and Vision document. Jupiter in Virgo Rx, allows you to get organized in writing. You have 5 months. Don’t wait until the last minute!
